This is the second of the summer newsletters and like the June newsletter will be brief.

About 5 years ago, friends from South Africa visited with us during the 4th of July.  During that visit our friends remarked on how lucky we were to live in our country where we celebrated our freedoms.  During that visit, I developed a new appreciation and respect for the foundation of freedom laid down by the founders of our country.  Since that visit, I have looked at the 4th of July much differently. During this 4th of July, let's remember the sacrifices made by our armed forces and their friends and families to protect our freedoms.

I hope you have a great holiday whether you are barbequing with friends and family, going to a parade, or simply relaxing at your home.

The studio will be closed on Monday, July 4th.

As a reminder to all the sparring students, no sparring classes are held on the night of Junior Belt Testing.  Parents should expect the Junior Belt Test will be approximately 1 - 1.5 hours long.

If you will be out of class for vacation this summer, we wish you a safe and enjoyable vacation.

Let the summer games begin!  We are planning a smaller summer games tournament for July 9th.  The tournament is between students from our school and students from U.S Taekwondo.  The entry fee is only $25 and includes a t-shirt, a medal, and trophies. The tournament will be a super time for first time competitors to experience tournament competition and for more seasoned competitors to hone their skills.    In the past, the tournament has been a lot of fun and everyone has had a great time.  The tournament will have the same basic categories as the May tournament: sparring, breaking, and forms.

Hamilton-Fairfield Taekwondo is proud of our students and their scholastic achievements.  We strive to instill not only concepts of physical fitness and spirit, but  also a focus and commitment to their school work.  Healthy bodies and healthy minds are important for our juniors as they become working adults.  During the 4th Quarter, the following students were on Honor Roll.  Students whose names are shown in Bold Red also had straight A's.  If you see these students, please congratulate them on their academic excellence.
