The
Little Dragons
classes are for boys and girls in pre-school (ages 3-5).
The classes are only about 30 minutes long and focus
on developing motor and listening skills. The
kids have a great time learning the fundamentals of
Taekwondo, improving their physical fitness,
flexibility, and balance, and developing their
focus, memory, self control and discipline.
The
classes usually consist of some warm-up exercises, basic kicking and
punching drills, forms, and games. As the kids improve, they
receive advancement recognition on their belts. When the kids of
developed sufficiently, they can also even advance to a colored belt
rank.

The
Juniors Taekwondo
class is for children age 6 through 12. The classes are 45 minutes
to 1 hour long. The children are taught Taekwondo techniques,
sparring, basic self defense, basic grappling, and forms. During
this important age, children will improve their physical fitness, refine
their motor skills, and improve their coordination and flexibility.
The classes develop better discipline, self control and focus.
The instructors for this age group work very closely with the children
to ensure their safety and understanding as they develop these skills

The classes usually consist of a 15 minute warm-up or
general exercise period, another 15 - 30 minutes of working on kicking,
punching, and defense techniques, and then 15 minutes of light sparring
or forms. Basic self defense techniques and grappling techniques
are introduced on an ad hoc basis. In addition to this regular
training, the kids can participate in
focused sparring training and up
on achieving a brown belt which normally takes about a year
and a half,
they can participate in a weapon class. Occasionally, the
children in these classes will also play a competitive game toward the
end of the class focused on one or more of the skill sets being
developed. All of the kids are encouraged to participate in one of the
many tournaments that Hamilton-Fairfield Taekwondo supports and our
annual breakathon.

The
Adult Taekwondo
class is for ages 13 and up. Our classes are truly generational
and include people from all age groups. The adult classes are
typically 45 minutes to 1 hour long. The classes include
developing Taekwondo kicking and punching techniques, basic self
defense, basic grappling, sparring, and forms. Unlike the Junior
class, the adult classes spend more time on self defense and sparring.
The typical class consists of a physical fitness or warm-up period at
the beginning of the class. The warm-up period usually lasts about
20 minutes. Following the warm-up period, the students participate
in kicking drills, punching drills, and sparring. The last part of
the class is usually spent on forms and provides a cool down period for
the students. The forms require physical exertion, but the effort
is
comparatively light to the drills and sparring. Self defense
techniques and basic grappling are intermixed freely in the classes.
Hamilton-Fairfield Taekwondo also offers special classes in sparring,
grappling, and weapons. While the sparring class is normally
offered on Friday's, the times for the other classes are dictated by the
availability of the specific instructors.

The CardioFit
class is for adults and taught as a kickboxing class. The
class is about 1 hour long and includes 45 minutes of nearly
continuous activity and 15 minutes of body sculpting using weights. The class
is great for people that just want to improve their health with a
managed work out program or for Taekwondo students seeking to increase
their endurance. Most people find that the CardioFit class is
physically more tiring than the Taekwondo class due to the high level of
physical activity.
