Self Defense Classes

Robert Gerhardt, a police officer in Blue Ash Police Department and a third-degree black belt, teaches self defense on Wednesday nights at Hamilton Fairfield Taekwondo.  Mr. Gerhardt is certified by the State of Ohio to provide tactical self defense training to police officers and was quoted in a Cincinnati Enquirer Article on self defense. The classes are for both men and women. The classes are balanced to provide the students self defense tactics that are reality-based.

The class is focused on providing practical self defense and includes the following elements:

  • Instruction of Awareness and Preparation

  • Striking Techniques

  • Defensive Grappling Techniques

  • Stand up Self Defense Techniques

  • Basic Defenses against Armed Attackers

In addition to the class instruction, Hamilton Fairfield Taekwondo publishes a monthly newsletter that often highlights self defense issues and techniques.  For example,

Classes for the winter are concluded.  The classes are typically offered during the winter.

The classes are for teens and adults (13 years and older).  The class is offered free of charge the first Wednesday of each month by Hamilton Fairfield Taekwondo.  Non members of the studio can attend the other classes during the month for a nominal fee of $5/class. Parents of students and cardio members may take the class for a fee of $3/class. The class is free to our Taekwondo students.
